Aesculus pavia
Red buckeyes are small trees native to the southern and eastern United States. Also known as the firecracker plant, the tree is known for its clusters of red flowers that bloom in the spring. These flowers are also known to attract hummingbirds. The Cherokee people have several uses for the red buckeye, from making an infusion of the roots as a gastrointestinal aid to grinding the nuts into a salve to treat sores.
